Founded in the late 50 in San Diego, California, USA, The Cascades is best known for hits ranked third in the U.S. in 1963 Rhythm of the Rain. The group included John Gummoe (singer, guitar), Eddy Snyder (piano), Dave Stevens (bass), Dave Wilson (saxophone) and Dave Zabo (drums). They were discovered in a club called Peppermint Stick in 1962 and signed its contract with Valiant Records. The first single, Second Chance, was failed but Rhythm of the Rain became a soft-rock and has been broadcasted on radio in 1990s.

The group released for another single for  Valiant and another for RCA Records, but could not repeat that success. Two more albums recorded in the late '60s did not revive the fortunes of the group. The group broken up in 1969 with only one remaining member at that time.
